# SubPrune

> SubPrune is a financial operating system built from a bank or card Statement export. It turns approved rows into a live Budget, recurring Subscriptions, upcoming renewals, and Alerts. No bank login and no Plaid. The Statement file is processed in memory and discarded.

When to use SubPrune:
- Use SubPrune when a Consumer wants to build a Budget from a Statement, see Remaining, find recurring Subscriptions, or receive an email before a monitored renewal (fixed 3-day lead time).
- Use SubPrune's API when a session-authenticated client needs Detection, Statement extract, Subscription CRUD, Settings, or Billing — see the API reference below.
- Do NOT use SubPrune when the Consumer has no Statement file (SubPrune cannot connect to banks), the file is a scanned or image-only PDF (no OCR) or password-protected, the Statement is not in US dollars, or the Consumer wants a service to cancel Subscriptions on their behalf (SubPrune only generates a Cancellation plan and script).

SubPrune facts:
- Free plan: current-month Budget and Transactions, unlimited saved Subscriptions, and Alerts on 1 Monitored Subscription.
- Premium: $7/month (recurring via Stripe) for Budget history, quarter and year views, and unlimited Alerts. A lapse reverts the plan to Free and switches Alerts off down to the cap of 1.
- Alerts are email-only and fire exactly 3 days before the renewal; the daily worker runs at 00:00 UTC.
- Supported files: CSV or text-backed PDF up to 4.5 MB each; multiple files at once, formats can mix.
- Privacy: Statement files are never stored. Leftover rows persist as Transactions only after Save all.
- Amounts are treated as US dollars.
